About Tenisha

Tenisha Hughes (Harrigan's Lane Artist-in-Residence, 2026; Lighthouse Arts Artist-in-Residence, 2026) is a contemporary classical composer from Meanjin/Brisbane, Australia. She completed the Master of Music Studies (Composition) at QCGU under the supervision of Dr. Nicole Murphy, developing a portfolio of work titled Ornithology that explores the relationship between humans and birdlife - a work at the intersection of sound and advocacy. Tenisha is passionate about how music can amplify and advocate for non-human voices, and her music, informed by collaborative practice - with humans and non-humans - and the possibilities of sound invites others to listen to and engage with music as a conduit for ecological consciousness.
